Zanzibar Tourism Revenue Hits Record $1.19B

Zanzibar- [Aug 07, 2026]:

Infinity Developments is pleased to share encouraging news from the latest Visitor Exit Survey Report released by the Bank of Tanzania, which reinforces the strong long-term outlook for tourism and real estate investment in Zanzibar.

According to the report, tourism earnings in Zanzibar reached a record $1.19 billion in 2025, representing a 19.3 percent increase from $997.8 million in 2024. This growth was driven by a continued rise in international visitor arrivals and higher visitor spending across the island.

Equally encouraging, the average visitor expenditure in Zanzibar increased by 9 percent, rising from $251 to $274 per person per night. This reflects the growing appeal of the island among higher-value travellers who are seeking premium accommodation, authentic experiences, and world-class hospitality.

The report also highlights that Italy, France, and the United Kingdom remain Zanzibar’s leading international source markets, while 92.9 percent of visitors travel to the island primarily for leisure and holidays — the very travellers who continue to drive demand for luxury resorts, branded residences, and high-end hospitality experiences.

What This Means for Investment in Zanzibar

For owners and investors in Anantara Zanzibar Resort & Residences, Infinity Hills, and the upcoming NH Collection Pemba Wellness Resort, these findings provide further evidence of Zanzibar’s growing strength as a global tourism and lifestyle destination.

The latest data points to several positive trends:

Higher tourism earnings indicate a stronger and more resilient visitor economy. Increased visitor spending supports demand for premium accommodation and hospitality services. Strong European demand, particularly from Italy, France, and the UK, continues to underpin the luxury tourism market. Consistent holiday travel reinforces the long-term outlook for branded residences, holiday homes, and rental investment opportunities.

As Zanzibar continues to attract more international visitors who are staying longer and spending more, the fundamentals supporting the island’s luxury real estate market remain exceptionally strong.

At Infinity Developments, we remain committed to creating world-class destinations positioned to benefit from these positive market trends, while delivering long-term value for our clients and investors.
