British Airways Returns to Tanzania with Zanzibar Flights

Zanzibar- [September 21, 2026]:

Infinity Developments is pleased to share another significant development for Zanzibar’s tourism and investment landscape, as British Airways prepares to return to Tanzania with a new seasonal service connecting London Gatwick with Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar.

Beginning May 29, 2027, British Airways will operate the service three times a week — on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays — with flights travelling from London Gatwick to Kilimanjaro before continuing onward to Zanzibar. The seasonal service is scheduled to operate until October 31, 2027.

The announcement marks British Airways’ return to Tanzania after an absence of approximately 15 years and strengthens the country’s connections with one of its important international tourism markets.

For Zanzibar, the new service represents another important step in improving international accessibility. The route will provide travellers from the United Kingdom with a convenient British Airways connection to the island while also making it easier to combine Tanzania’s renowned northern safari circuit with a Zanzibar beach holiday within the same itinerary.

British Airways is promoting the route around this combination, connecting travellers with Kilimanjaro and Tanzania’s safari experiences before continuing to Zanzibar, known internationally for its beaches, Indian Ocean setting, cultural heritage and historic Stone Town.

Improved international air connectivity is an important part of Zanzibar’s continued development as a global tourism destination. As the island becomes easier to reach from major international markets, it can support continued growth across hotels, resorts, restaurants, retail, leisure experiences, branded residences, second homes and other tourism-linked sectors.

The announcement also comes during a period of strong momentum for Zanzibar’s tourism industry, with international visitor numbers continuing to grow and significant investment being directed towards hospitality, real estate and supporting infrastructure.

For property owners and investors, connectivity is more than an aviation development. Greater accessibility contributes to the wider ecosystem supporting a destination’s long-term attractiveness, helping connect Zanzibar with international visitors, investors and potential property buyers.

The routing through Kilimanjaro further strengthens Tanzania’s broader tourism proposition. International travellers can combine the wildlife, landscapes and safari experiences of mainland Tanzania with Zanzibar’s beaches, culture and hospitality, creating a compelling multi-destination experience within a single journey.

At Infinity Developments, we continue to invest in Zanzibar’s evolution as a globally connected tourism, hospitality and lifestyle destination.

Our portfolio includes Anantara Zanzibar Resort & Residences, Infinity Hills in Kikwajuni and NH Collection Pemba Wellness Resort, alongside our growing investment in Stone Town’s heritage and hospitality assets.

The return of British Airways adds another important international connection supporting this wider ecosystem and reflects Zanzibar’s growing position within the global tourism market.

As Zanzibar becomes increasingly connected with the world, Infinity Developments remains committed to contributing to the destination’s next chapter through high-quality hospitality, residential and mixed-use developments.

We look forward to keeping our clients, investors and partners informed as Zanzibar’s tourism, infrastructure and international connectivity continue to evolve.
